Daniel adalah dosen di Departemen Perilaku Kesehatan, Lingkungan, dan Kedokteran Sosial, Fakultas Kedokteran, Kesehatan Masyarakat, dan Keperawatan, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Ia memperoleh gelas sarjana bidang Kimia dari Institut Teknologi Bandung (lulus 2012), gelar Master of Environmental Science dari IHE Delft (2015), dan sedang menyelesaikan studi doktoral di Department of Water Management, Delft University of Technology (lulus 2021).
Fokus dan minat riset utamanya adalah water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), keberlanjutan program WASH di pedesaan, resiko dan kualitas air minum, rencana pengamanan air minum, perilaku seputar WASH, layanan WASH yang berketahanan iklim, kesehatan planet (planetary health), dan aplikasi system thinking pada isu-isu seputar WASH dan kesehatan masyarakat.
Daniel terlibat sebagai member dari International Water Association (IWA), pengurus Jejaring AMPL (WASH National Network Indonesia), dan anggota Komite Ahli Penanganan Masalah Kesehatan Lingkungan Kementerian Kesehatan (2024-2029). Daniel juga berperan sebagai Editorial Board dari 2 jurnal internasional, yaitu PLOS One dan Journal of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene for Development.
